LoadWB |
If you have installed the 'LoadWB' program from Opus 5 and wish to boot your computer
with the old workbench instead, simply hold down the SHIFT key while the computer is
booting. |
Selecting Icons |
To access any icon displayed on the main window, simply double-click on the icon with
the left mouse button. This will open the volume or device and read its contents into an
Opus 5 file Lister display. Alternatively, you may use the keyboard to select and activate
the icons as follows:- the SPACE key toggles keyboard selection mode, the Arrow cursor
keys move the highlight, the RETURN key activates the selected icon. |
Directories |
Double-click on a directory to enter and display that directory. Drag and drop a
directory to copy the directory to the new location, or leave it out if dropped onto the
main window. SHIFT drag and drop of a directory does not copy the directory but displays
the contents of the directory in the destination Lister. (Actually, it is holding down the
SHIFT key when you drop the directory which does the trick!) SHIFT double-click on a
directory to open up a new Lister for that directory. SHIFT ALT double-click on a
directory to split the current Lister display and open a new directory Lister. Double

- RETURN (in keyboard selection mode) toggles selection status of a file. In non-keyboard
mode, it activates the path field at the bottom of the Lister.
- Enter (in keyboard selection mode) performs the same action as a double mouse click.
- SHIFT-ESCAPE closes the Lister.

To scroll quickly to the first file entry starting with a particular letter, press that
letter; the list will scroll as close as it can get to the first entry. Press a letter in
conjunction with either SHIFT key to scroll to the first Directory beginning with that
letter.
NOTE 1: If you wish to use the Delete Key to call the Opus Delete command then edit the
toolbar and enter the DEL key as the hot key for the Delete button! |
Lister to Front |
F10 will bring the current lister to the front. Useful if the lister is partially
hidden by other windows. |
ToolBar Editor |
The Toolbar Editor may also be invoked by holding down the ALT key and clicking on one
of the toolbar icon images. |
Icons |
When you have multiple icons selected, holding down SHIFT key and selecting any icon
with the mouse allows you to pick up and drag all the selections as one. |

Name Mode Listers |
Double-clicking on a program in Name mode now runs it as an AmigaDOS program, with
arguments, even if the program has an icon. Opus 5.5 would automatically run the program
as a workbench process if there was an associated icon. However, you may still run a
program with an icon as a Workbench process from a name mode lister if you hold down the
shift key when you double-click on it. |
Drag and drop files directly into a sub-directory |
When enabled from Environment/Lister Options, you may drag and drop files directly
into a sub-directory in Name mode. Moving the mouse when dragging files over a directory
in a lister (either the same lister or a different one) will highlight the directory name.
If you release the files over that directory, the defined filetype action will use that
sub-directory as the destination path rather than the path of the lister itself. If you
have this option switched off, you can always activate it by holding down the shift key
while dragging. |
Shortcuts in Start Menus |
You can toggle the drag bar on and off by holding either shift key and clicking on the
Start Menu with the left button. If the drag bar is turned off you can access the control
menu by pressing the Ctrl key and clicking on the Start Menu. |
DesktopPopup |
When the Desktop popup is enabled, the default action option allows you to choose the
action to be performed by default when you drag a file to the desktop. If None is set (the
default), then the popup menu appears as normal. However, if you set Create Left-out, Move
to Desktop or Copy to Desktop, then that action will be performed without a popup menu
appearing. With a default action set in this way, access to the popup menu is still
possible by holding down either SHIFT key when you drop the file onto the desktop. |
Requesters |
You can now press 'y' or 'n' in most requesters for ok/cancel. Except of course where
it would clash with the buttons text. ESCape will cancel a requester. |
Icons - General Comments |
When an icon is double-clicked, all other icons in that window which were selected are
now automatically de-selected, unless the shift key is held down. |
Icon Information Requester |
Sort Tooltypes: If you hold the shift key when clicking this button all disabled
tooltypes will be moved to the bottom of the listview. |
Cut and Paste |
If you hold the shift key down when pasting a string into a string gadget using
Right-Amiga+V, the string will be inserted at the current cursor position instead of
replacing the existing string completely. |
About Requester |
When viewing the about requester, progressively SHIFT Click on the rotating Opus image
to view pictures of some of those who have contributed to the development and testing of
Opus to make it the great program it has become! |
